In this paper we show part of the results of a larger study1 that investigates conditional probability problem solving. In particular, we report on a structure-based method to identify, classify and analyse ternary problems of conditional probability in mathematics textbooks in schools. This method is also based on a realistic mathematics education approach to mathematics teaching through problem solving in context. We report some results of the analysis of mathematics textbooks from Spain
