MATHEMATICS IN SOME SOUTH AMERICAN CULTURES. A CONTRIBUTION TO THE ETHNOMATHEMATICS

Abstract

This study presents some considerations concerning the field of Ethnomathematics, resulting from an experience conducted for a number of months in the Andes and in the forest of Ecuador, with Riobamba as the operating centre. The author was able to enter into contact with indigenous populations and study their mathematics, especially as an instrument of everyday work
